Gas Fitting
Licensed Gas Fitting
Gas work is licensed work, and for good reason. An undersized line, a joint that was never properly tested, or an appliance installed without adequate ventilation are faults you cannot see and will not notice until something goes wrong.
We are QBCC licensed for both plumbing and gas, so cooktop installs, hot water connections, bayonet points, new runs and leak testing are all handled by the same person who turns up.

What matters in gas work
Correct line sizing
Every appliance has a gas consumption rating, and the pipe feeding it has to carry that load over its actual length and through its actual fittings. Add a second appliance to a line that was only ever sized for one and you get appliances that underperform or will not stay lit.
Testing, not assuming
Gas work is pressure tested before it is signed off. That is the step that distinguishes a compliant installation from one that merely appears to work on the day.
Ventilation and clearances
Appliances need specific clearances from combustible surfaces and adequate ventilation for combustion. These get overlooked in tight kitchen renovations and are a genuine safety issue, not a technicality.
Compliance paperwork
Licensed gas work carries certification obligations. It matters when you sell, when you insure, and if anything ever goes wrong — unlicensed gas work can void a claim.
Common questions
If I smell gas, what should I do?
Turn the gas off at the meter or cylinder if you can reach it safely, do not operate light switches or anything that could make a spark, open up to ventilate, and get everyone out if the smell is strong. For a suspected major leak or escaping gas, call the gas emergency line for your network first — then call us for the repair. We are available 24/7.
Can I install a gas cooktop myself?
No. Gas installation work must be done by a licensed gas fitter. Beyond the safety risk, unlicensed gas work can invalidate your insurance and your appliance warranty, and it will come up when the property is sold.
Can an LPG appliance run on natural gas?
Sometimes, with the correct conversion kit from the manufacturer, and only where the appliance is designed for it — the injectors and regulator settings differ. It is not a matter of simply connecting it up. We can tell you whether your specific appliance can be converted.
Do you do gas leak testing for a property purchase?
Yes. A pressure test on the gas installation tells you whether the system holds, which is worth knowing before you settle rather than after.
