24/7 Emergency Plumbing

Some plumbing problems can wait for a weekday and some cannot. Water escaping into a building does damage continuously, and the cost of that damage usually outruns the cost of the plumbing repair very quickly.

We answer the phone 24/7, 365 days a year, and you speak directly to the plumber rather than a call centre.

Turn the water off and call

  • A burst pipe or water running where it should not be
  • Water coming through a ceiling or down an internal wall
  • A blocked drain overflowing inside the house, or sewage surcharging outside
  • A hot water system leaking heavily from the tank body
  • A toilet that will not stop filling and is overflowing
  • A suspected gas leak — ventilate, get out, call the gas network's emergency line first, then us
  • No water at all to the property when neighbours still have supply

What to do before we arrive

Find your water meter now, not during the emergency

The main tap at your water meter shuts off the whole property. Knowing where it is and that it actually turns is the single most useful piece of preparation a homeowner can do — it is the difference between a wet patch and a flooded floor.

Isolate what you can

Many fixtures have their own isolation valve — under the sink, behind the toilet, at the hot water unit. If the leak is at one fixture, shutting that valve stops the water without cutting supply to the whole house.

Kill the power to wet areas

If water is near switchboards, power points or light fittings, turn that circuit off at the board. Water and electricity together is the part of a plumbing emergency that can actually hurt someone.

Turn off the hot water unit if it is the source

For a leaking electric unit, switch it off at the board and close its isolation valve. For gas, close the gas isolation valve at the unit. This stops it heating and refilling while it empties itself into your yard or garage.

Photograph it

Before you mop up, take photos of the water and anything damaged. If you end up making an insurance claim, that evidence is worth having and cannot be recreated later.

Common questions

What counts as a real plumbing emergency?

Anything where water is actively escaping and causing damage, where sewage is entering the house, where you have no water at all, or where you suspect a gas leak. A dripping tap or a slow drain is a job for a normal booking — annoying, but it is not getting worse by the minute.

Where is my water main shut-off?

Usually at the water meter at the front boundary of the property, often in a small box at ground level. There is a tap next to the meter that isolates the whole property. It is worth locating it and checking it turns before you ever need it.

Do you actually answer the phone at night?

Yes. We are contactable 24/7, 365 days a year, and you will be speaking to the plumber directly.

Should I call you or my insurer first?

Stop the water first, then call us to make it safe and stop further damage — insurers expect you to mitigate. Photograph everything before you clean up, and talk to your insurer about the damage claim once the leak itself is under control.
