Blocked Drains

Blocked Drain Clearing on the Gold Coast

A blocked drain rarely arrives without warning. Usually there is a slow sink or a gurgling toilet for weeks beforehand, and then one day the water has nowhere to go. By then the blockage is often well down the line rather than near the fixture.

We clear blocked drains across the southern Gold Coast and find out what caused the blockage, so you are not booking the same job again in three months. Quotes are free and there is no call-out fee.

Blocked Drain Clearing on the Gold Coast

Signs your drain is blocking up

  • Water draining slowly from a sink, shower or bath, or sitting in the base after use
  • Gurgling from a toilet or drain when another fixture is used — air being pushed back up the line
  • A smell of sewage around floor wastes, outside gullies or the garden
  • Water rising in the shower when the washing machine empties, which points to a shared blocked line
  • An overflowing relief gully outside — this is the drain doing its job and relieving pressure away from the house
  • More than one fixture draining badly at once, which usually means the main line rather than a single trap

How we clear it

We look before we cut

A CCTV drain camera goes down the line so we can see what is actually there — roots, a collapsed section, a belly holding water, or simply a build-up of fat and debris. Guessing at a blockage is how drains get dug up unnecessarily.

High-pressure water jetting

A high-pressure jetter scours the full width of the pipe rather than punching a hole through the middle of the blockage, which is the difference between a drain that stays clear and one that blocks again at the next heavy use. It cuts roots out of joints too.

Then we tell you why it happened

After the line is clear we camera it again. If the cause was structural — a cracked earthenware joint, roots finding a gap, a section with no fall — you will hear about it, with the footage, so you can decide whether to repair it now or keep an eye on it.

Tree roots, which is most of them here

A lot of Gold Coast homes still have older earthenware or clay sewer lines with mortared joints. Roots find the moisture at those joints, get in, and keep growing. Jetting clears them; if the joint has failed, cutting in a new section is the permanent fix.

Common questions

Can I just use a drain cleaner from the supermarket?

For a slow sink caused by soap and hair, sometimes. For anything in the main line it is unlikely to help — the product never reaches the blockage in a useful concentration, and caustic drain cleaners sitting against old pipework and chrome traps can do damage. If more than one fixture is affected, it is a line problem rather than a trap problem.

Will you need to dig up my yard?

Usually not. Most blockages clear through an existing inspection opening with the jetter. Excavation only comes up when the camera shows a pipe that has actually failed — collapsed, badly cracked, or pulled apart at a joint — and in that case we will show you the footage first.

Why does the same drain keep blocking?

Because something in the pipe is causing it rather than just filling it. Roots at a joint, a section that has sagged and holds water, or a partial collapse will all catch debris repeatedly. Clearing it without looking at it with a camera means you never find that out.

Do you handle blocked drains after hours?

Yes — we are available 24/7. A blocked drain that is overflowing inside, or sewage surcharging outside, is worth dealing with straight away rather than waiting.
